Thursday-Rice family FUN
Thursday we headed to Diana's for lunch. Mom and Grandma met us there and the boys all joined us after their golf game. We played with stained glass ideas for Diana's next project (I'm very excited about it!) and enjoyed checking out some of the fun glass she has. Who knew there was were so many different kinds of glass. How you ever choose what to use is beyond me. After lunch, a little shopping, and some rest for the kiddos we were off to Susan and Alan's for dinner. Can you believe I didn't take one picture the whole day? Honestly. Some day . . . Then we were off to Sandi and Jedd's for a good night's sleep. For some of us. :0)

Wednesday--Off to Utah

Wednesday we headed to Utah with Kristin, Ryan and Alyssa. On the way we were able to stop at the Twin Falls Temple open house. The kids were very excited to be able to see the inside of a temple, and Abby and Cailah had their outfits layed out a week in advance. Abby chose all white because "that is what you are supposed to wear in the temple." Braydon spent the tour matching the room we were in to the pictures of the rooms in the brochure they gave everyone at the beginning of the tour. He kept us on the ball. Cailah was the perfect picture of reverence and awe. She never once spoke above a whisper, kept her arms folded nearly the entire time and her eyes were shining with excitement. I've never seen her that serious for an extended amount of time.
We arrived in Ogden in time to have yummy stew and cake at Grandma Thompson's and enjoy Clifton, Jaime and family. We spent the night at Hill Airforce Base and Trevor and Bethany came to join us. And the fun begins!

10 Years
Wow, today Mike and I have been married for 10 years. It's amazing to look back and see everything we've done. We've been blessed. We have all that we need and much of what we want. Our home is full of the sounds of happy people learning and playing together (at least most of the time.) And we still like each other. It's a good life.

What a difference a few months makes
Here's our 9 month old D. I included her one month picture for comparison. I'm not sure it's the same child.

9 months old
Missy Delayna is becoming a handful. I'm getting some muscle definition in my arms from holding her. I'm not even kidding, she's a squirmy little turkey and it's exhausting holding her for very long. She loves to eat anything that is forbidden or that she can feed her self. She will allow me to feed her but there are two methods she incorporates, and both are very messy. The first is the fake out. She opens her mouth wide and then just before I get the spoon to her lips she closes them most of the way and then sucks the food out of the spoon. This usually results in droppage and smearage. It makes for good finger painting. The other method is the open wide take a big bite, spit 3/4 of it out and smash it back in with her hand before I can rescue it with the spoon. Also makes for good finger painting and clothing destruction. I don't own a bib this kid can't get around. She's got talent to be sure.
She is an attention monger. She has discovered that when she "talks" people look at her and talk back and she loves it. She generally plays shy and hides her face in my chest for a second or two and then looks back at them. If she's lost their attention, no problem, she'll "talk" to them again. She has also learned that when the camera comes out she's supposed to smile and smile she does. She's a bit of a ham and I have even gotten her to quit crying by pulling out the camera and pretending to take her picture.
Her new talent is stading up. She pulls herself up to everything now and is harder to get to sleep because . . . well sleeping standing up is a talent reserved for horses and other cool animal kingdom members. She has learned that she can follow mom around so when I leave, she comes and finds me. Let the little hands under the bathroom door days begin. ;0)
For some reason blogger won't let me upload pictures today. I'll try again later tonight. Happy August 4th. See many of you in a couple of weeks--Whoo Hoo.

Good News/Bad News
The good news is we have "just in case" extra carpet pieces in the garage and I have a good idea for a Mikey Christmas present. The bad news is we are going to have to use it and he's going to have to do without scout boots for a few months.
Mike was dilligently working to repair a minor scrape in our bed. It's been their for quite a while, but yesterday I remarked that I was ready to let him try to fix it and Mr. Get 'Er Done was on the task. He was working to get it to match when he very carefully set the stain down on the dresser. The problem was the stain didn't let go of him and when he lifted his hand away it stuck and well . . . . .
Some things are just so bad that they are funny and this is one of them. I laughed and laughed. Mike still does not think it is funny--not even a little bit. He's also quite sure that he won't think it is funny in 10 years so their is no point in laughing. His scout boots, jean shorts and well . . . the carpet are in sorry shape. I'm not sure if he's more upset about the boots or the carpet. So there's a good Christmas present idea--he could use some new boots :0)
