Overheard at Grandma's house

We made a quick trip to Hermistion this weekend since Abby didn't have school. Here are some things overheard while there. Feel free to add more if you were there and remember others. OK, you can add others if you weren't there too. :0)

"I think you want some more kisses." "No I want some more head-buts." (Kristin and Braydon)

"Abby has to die before I get baptized." (Cailah) We're still trying to figure this on out.

"Here comes my spanking practice." Braydon when seeing Kristin

"Sorry I couldn't give you purple hair, but I already gave it to Grandma." Alyssa the beautician

The kids set up shop in the living room. Abby had a perler bead shop--all items 10 cents, except when Grandma came shopping. She was charged 10 dollars. That's one smart shopkeeper. Braydon was master of the pet shop, Cailah was willing to take pictures with you and even let you hold her penguin for just a small donation, and Alyssa opened her own beauty shop. It lasted into the next day so Cailah got to go to church with blue eye shadow. :0-) Happily it was all done by "credit card" and we all had plenty of money to spend.

This made the weeks to photos because of the fact that we spent 10 minutes finding the camera because Braydon insisted that we take a picture of the the yogurt on his face. He was cracking himself up and therefore we were all laughing.

Check out this girl pushing herself up off a pillow. Go Delayna Go. Of course she'd rather be chewing on her hand, her new favorite pasttime. By the way this pictures is a near clone of one I took of Abby at about this age and they look ALIKE. I used to think D looked like Braydon, but I think she is looking more and more like Abby. It will be fun to see ;0p

Our favorite Cailah quote for the week comes from us asking the kids to get ready to go which means socks, shoes and coat on. Cailah already had her shoes on and excitedly replied, "Mom, I'm ahead in the game, arn't I." (italics added)

If you thought you'd seen everything. . .

OK so Delayna has had a couple of bad days. Nothing new. She's not know for being a particularly content baby, but I knew something wasn't right, probably gas. She was crying like she hurt, falling asleep and waking right back up, but was obviously exhausted. We tried Sandi's miracle "gripe water" last night and it seemed to help a little and she was able to get some sleep last night. This morning she was fussy and upset again and I went to change her diaper. I noticed that one of her toes looked funny. Upon further examination I realized it was quite red and swollen and OH MY WORD there is a hair wrapped around it cutting into the skin and cutting off circulation. Mike and I tried everything we could think of to get it off to no avail and causing poor Delayna much pain. Finally we decided it was time to head to urgent care.

If you want to get a funny look tossed at you, try walking into urgent care and telling the receptionist your are there because your baby has a hair wrapped around her toe. I could see eyes rolling when she called up to the pediatricans office to ask permission to work on her. But after that they took us seriously. She was taken back before Mike had time to get her out of the carseat. One doctor, two nurses, Mike and a cool pair of scissors later, D's toe is free from hair, we think. It was wrapped around right at the knuckle and in so deep it was very difficult to see in the first place and it's impossible to be sure it is all out at this point. So we get to go in for a check up in a couple of days. Who knew a hair could cause two doctors visits.

Anyway, apparently though not common this does happen, and it wasn't the first time the doctor had seen it. So if you have a crying, non-talking child and you can't figure out what is wrong be sure to check anything that sticks out from the body. It could be the dreaded hair.

One Year Older and Wiser Too

Happy Birthday, to Cailah! She was fun to watch open her presents this year because she was so excited about everything (O.K. not so much the clothes). She has something nice to say about every gift. My favorite was the "I wanted this" she gave the Leap Pad game from Grandma and Grandpa Bell. It's may favorite because I'm pretty sure she's never seen that particular game before :09

A Note From Delayna

Hey guys, now that I'm a big three month old I thought I'd send my first note. (I know you love these Uncle Trevie) Life is good here at home. I get too much love from Cailah sometimes, but I know she loves me and I'm glad--I just wish she'd stay out of my face a little more often. Abby thinks it's really cool because Mom and Dad have started letting her bring me to them and she gets to WALK with me--that's big news here. I love Braydon and try really hard to get him to talk to me by smiling at him a lot. But I'm a little tired of watching him play Super Mario Galaxy. Happily, he rescued Princess Peach yesterday, so he might pay more attention to me. I recognize my family and smile for them when I see them. Sometimes I'll flash a smile at other people if they work really hard and seem really nice.

My favorite thing is when Mom comes and gets me out of bed. I know I'm going to get a hug and a full tummy, so I flash her a big shy smile and that makes her love me even more! I'm starting to think bathtime is fun too. It's taken me awhile to get used to that. I also like it when Mom pays attention to me when I tell her it is time for me to go to sleep. Sometimes she's not listening and I have to get a little loud to get her to pay attention. But if she listens carefully, I usually talk to her and tell her I'm tired, then I complain a little and give her some time to figure it out before I start crying. If she catches me in the complaining stage and rocks me and sings to me I talk to her a little more before I drift off with a smile on my face. We both like that time a lot!

I'm learning to hold up my own head and I get to see more of the world now. My main complaint is that Mom and Dad try to squirt this yucky medicine in my mouth every night and I hate it. I try really hard to spit it all out, but they keep telling me it will make me feel better. I guess maybe it does. Other than that life is good and I'm happy to be 3 months old. Love you! Delyana

Another Snow Day--And a Cailah First

Another snow storm today meant church was cancelled all along the valley here and we got to have a day at home. It was fun and exciting, except Cailah was to have given her very first talk in Primary today. After a few tears we decided that we would ask if she could give it next week, and she wanted to give it to you!

"Heavenly Father wants us to read the scriptures, but I'm too little. So my Mom and Dad have to read them to me. I like to look at the pictures when they read. I like the stories of Jesus. I can't wait to see Jesus. My mom and dad were in the temple to be married. The scriptures help me to go to the temple. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."
